BC Prievidza and SCOUTORY enter into strategic partnership
With six national championship titles (four in Slovakia, two more in former Czechoslovakia), frequent participations in European competitions and more than 75 years of history to its name, BC Prievidza ranks among the country's most storied basketball programs. The last silverware dates back to 2020 when the club won the Slovak Cup. Recently, the going has become a bit tougher, mainly due to post-Covid financial challenges.
However, the organization's leadership is determined to restore the club to its former glory. In this context, they have decided to enter into a strategic partnership with SCOUTORY, mainly seeking assistance on the field of roster management and player recruiting. SCOUTORY CEO and Founder Matthias Haufer will assume Sports Director duties at BC and work closely with the coaching staff in order to construct a competitive squad for the 2023/2024 Niké SBL season.
"Over the course of the last two seasons, in particular our import player selection did not always go according to plan. We had to replace 7 out of 10 players in total. With SCOUTORY and their experience and contacts on board, we should be able to turn this weakness into a strength and use our limited budget more efficiently. It will allow us to choose from a larger pool of players", says Peter Zvara, head of BC Prievidza's ownership group.
Matthias Haufer, SCOUTORY's CEO and Founder, agrees and adds: “We are ecstatic to get this partnership going. BC Prievidza is a name that resonates with those who closely follow international basketball. The history of the club speaks for itself. I was amazed by the atmosphere at their games, that's what I call a real home court advantage. I look forward to helping to bring more such unique moments to the fans. In a league like Niké SBL, the selection of players is all the more important because the list of available players is almost endless, but the real diamonds in the rough are far and few between. Our responsibility together with the coaches will be to first uncover and then polish them so that they can really shine in the BC Prievidza jersey.”
